City of London Corporation - Cleansing

The ancient guardians of the City have been a feature of the Show for centuries. Today’s giant willow
giants are made by The Worshipful Company of Basketmakers and are accompanied by the Guild of Young
Freemen, a volunteer-run organisation made up of young people who share an interest in the rich history and
traditions of the City of London. Members are aged between 18 and 40 and come from a wide range of
backgrounds and careers.

Two centuries ago, University College London (UCL) was founded with a progressive vision: to open the doors of higher education to all, regardless of religion, or background. In doing so, it became not only London’s first university but also a beacon of progressive thought, social transformation and academic excellence. It was the first university to be established in London, the first entirely secular university in the UK to admit students regardless of religion, and in later years, the first university in the UK to admit women into higher education alongside men. In 2026, we celebrate 200 years of this remarkable institution.

UCL has since grown from a single building in Bloomsbury into London’s leading multidisciplinary university, a global powerhouse of science, medicine, arts and humanities; home to Nobel Prize and Oscar winners alike and to a diverse community of more than 70,000 students and staff from over 150 countries. It has always been a place where new ideas and perspectives could flourish, and where research and innovation changes lives. As UCL enters its third century, it continues to be recognised as one of the world’s leading universities, ranking joint 8th in the QS World University Rankings in 2026. This marks its fifteenth consecutive year in the global top 10.

Founded in London, for London, UCL has been deeply connected to the life of the capital since 1826. Established to serve a rapidly growing and changing city, the university has helped shape London’s intellectual, cultural, scientific and civic development while drawing inspiration from the communities and opportunities around it.
Today, with campuses in Bloomsbury and East London, and partnerships spanning hospitals, schools, cultural organisations, businesses, charities and community groups across the capital, UCL is woven into the city’s fabric. Working with its partners and communities, the university has achieved numerous firsts, from discovery of the Nobel gases and paving the way for today’s internet, to modern day breakthroughs that are transforming women and infant health and the treatment of cancer and dementia. UCL’s commitment to social and civic responsibility continues through its teaching, research and collaborations, helping to address some of the most pressing challenges facing London and the wider world.

To celebrate its bicentenary, UCL will participate in the Lord Mayor’s Show for the first time, bringing together students, staff and partners in a vibrant celebration of the creativity, innovation and community spirit that connect UCL to London. UCL’s participation forms part of UCL200, an exciting, year-long programme, including new publications, exhibitions, public art, lectures, performances, events and public engagement activities, that invites audiences to explore the stories, ideas and innovations that have shaped the university and to help us navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.

UCL remains committed to its founding principles: inclusivity, innovation and impact. The next century will demand new ideas, new collaborations and courage. If the past 200 years have taught us anything, it is that UCL and its communities will continue to rise to the occasion, boldly, thoughtfully and together.

Tower Bridge is part of City Bridge Foundation, a 900-year-old charity which owns and manages five Thames bridges at no cost to the taxpayer.

This year we are proud to support the Lord Mayor's Show 2026 with Tower Bridge, London's defining landmark brought to life on wheels and out onto the streets of the City of London. Our float is designed to be instantly recognisable while also including heart-warming details that reveal the hidden stories of Tower Bridge.

We encourage Londoners to explore inside and take in stunning panoramic views from the High-Level Walkways and experience the thrill of the Glass Floors. A visit also includes the magnificent Victorian Engine Rooms that once powered Bridge Lifts.

This year, the Worshipful Company of Farmers is delighted to be joined by the NFU, Massey Ferguson, Huntapac, Red Tractor Assurance and Surrey Docks Farm.

The farming entry will showcase the innovation, expertise and commitment that underpin British food production and help feed the nation’s 29 million households.

At the heart of the parade, under the banner ‘Rooting for British Farming’, will be a giant carrot harvester demonstrating the advanced technology and significant investment required to grow and harvest food efficiently and sustainably.

Joining the harvester will be Massey Ferguson’s flagship 9S tractor, highlighting the cutting-edge machinery that supports modern farming businesses across the country.

Walking alongside the vehicles will be the NFU’s Student and Young Farmer Ambassadors, representatives from Red Tractor, and young people from Surrey Docks Farm, reflecting the breadth of people involved in producing food and inspiring the next generation of farmers.

Billingsgate Ward Club is proud to celebrate today with our Alderman Bronek Masojada in his new role as Lord Mayor of London. The Master of Billingsgate Ward Club, Alison Gill, is leading members of the Ward on the 1932 steam omnibus, Puffing Billy, accompanied by representatives of the Watermen’s Company, the Company of Engineers and the Poulters.

The Modern Livery Companies of the City of London represent a remarkable continuation of centuries-old traditions, bringing together historic guilds and professional organisations that continue to play an important role in the civic life of the City. Their members, known as Liverymen, support charitable causes, education, apprenticeships, professional standards and the wider community, while maintaining the ceremonial traditions that form such an important part of London’s heritage.

As the Lord Mayor is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Firefighters, the Company is proudly represented in authentic style for this occasion. Firefighters are dressed in genuine 1960s fire kit, reflecting the equipment and appearance of the period, and are accompanied by a beautifully preserved Dennis F106 Pump Escape dating from the same era. Together, the firefighters and appliance provide a striking living illustration of London’s firefighting heritage, linking the traditions of the City’s Livery Companies with the proud history of the London Fire Brigade.

The Meisen Guild was founded in Zurich in 1336 as the ‘Zunft zum Winlütten’. It originally brought together wine merchants, wine sellers, saddlers and painters. The name derives from our former guild hall on Marktgasse (from 1449); today it is based in the magnificent Rococo building on Münsterhof, built in 1757. With over 240 members, it Zurich’s largest guild and, since 2025, has been the first to admit women as members. The Meisen Guild is the sister guild of the Worshipful Company of Innholders and the Worshipful Company of Vintners. With their visit, they bring their guild band (Harmonie Birmensdorf), guild members and families, deepening the friendship between London and Zurich.

The Thetford entry comprises a Thetford built Burrell’s showman’s engine Queen Mary (courtesy of the Charles Burrell Museum) towing Jones’s Van from the BBC TV series Dad’s Army. The van is owned by the Dad’s Army Museum which celebrates Thetford’s links to the show, as Thetford was the real Walmington-on-Sea.
Individuals in the walking group will include the High Sheriff of Norfolk, Jo Pearson DL, Mayor of Thetford, Cllr Vic Peters, South West Norfolk MP Terry Jermy. As well as local councillors, there will be characters from Thetford’s history including Boudica, the Viking Sweyn Forkbeard, Thomas Paine and Sir Joseph Williamson. There will also be a platoon of lookalikes from the Dad’s Army Museum.
Thetford traces its roots to the Neolithic period when there was a river crossing of the ancient Icknield Way. An important Iceni settlement in the Iron Age centuries before Boudica raised her standard to leave the area to fight the Romans. During the Viking period it was the largest settlement in East Anglia and was the sixth largest town in the country at the time of the Domesday survey. The cathedral in Thetford was removed to Norwich in 1094. Thetford Priory was the burial site of the Dukes of Norfolk and Henry VIII’s son Henry Fitzroy. Thetford’s most famous son Thomas Paine turned the world upside down in the 18th century with his writings and contributions to the American and French Revolutions. The last maharaja of the Punjab Duleep Singh purchased nearby Elveden Hall in the 19th century and turned it into the greatest shooting estate in the country having given over his Koh-I-Noor diamond to the crown. Thetford Forest became the country’s largest lowland forest after the WWI. During WWII the area was transformed by the creation of a military training area and many nearby airfields. The town expanded greatly in the second half of the 20th century and is the fourth largest settlement in the county and remains the gateway to Norfolk.

Rotary was started in 1905 and is one of the world’s leading humanitarian service organisations,
with 1.2 million members in over 200 countries and geographical regions. Rotary members are
determined to tackle the world’s biggest issues, including promoting peace (at a time when this is
needed now if not more than ever), fighting disease, leading the campaign to eradicate polio,

is a network of community volunteers that are both local and global.
We are going & "Purple4Polio" for our End Polio Now campaign in the Parade to mark the fact

world.
The United Wards Club of the City of London was founded in 1877 by Joseph Newbon, a
Common Councilman of the City, as a general and central ward club for discussion of public
matters affecting civic, Guilds and general interest. The membership consists of Freemen,
Liverymen and members of the City of London Ward Clubs and others who are interested in
preserving the traditions of the City and promoting the spirit of citizenship.

Each year, the Lord/Lady Mayor of the City of London is the United Wards

‘No Knives Better Lives’ [NKBL] is based on a Scottish model of seeking to educate on the dangers and perils of carrying a knife, but at The Old Bailey (The Central Criminal Court) we have developed it into our own programme of outreach over the last 10 years. We run this from the Old Bailey as this criminal court hears the most serious cases from the whole of England & Wales and over 75% of the defendants who appear in the trials here are under the age of 25 years. We have 18 courtrooms, and we are sadly very busy and predominantly with knife crime which is often gang related.

We work with the City of London Police and The Met, and they will only run this programme of events from The Old Bailey as with our own security team, we can effectively police the event and keep everyone safe. The young people who attend are from different postcodes across London and all are at risk in some way and most already have been made the subject of a referral order for carrying a knife. The events are aimed at young people aged 14-17 years old and they come accompanied by their youth and justice workers.

The sessions are led by HHJ Judy Khan KC, one of the permanent Judges at the Old Bailey, who introduces a range of speakers: trauma surgeons, barristers, bereaved mothers, mothers with sons in prison, convicted gang members who have now turned their lives around. After the speeches finish, we chat with our attendees and ask about their hopes and dreams and what they really want to do with their lives and then try to find opportunities from the Livery Companies and business organisations in the City of London to help them achieve their potential. We are acutely aware that telling our young guests what not to do needs to be followed up with prospects and a chance to choose what they want to achieve and to have belief that they can dream of a future where they excel.

The Recorder of London, HHJ Mark Lucraft KC, directs all the outreach work and due to the increasingly young age of those charged with violent crimes, we have expanded the programme to reach children aged 10–11 years old. This early intervention initiative is spearheaded by HH Judge Sarah Munro KC in collaboration with Be Heard As One - a grassroots East London organisation focused on mentoring and outreach. This new arm of the programme emphasises empowerment, informed decision-making, and long-term support. The goal is to prevent children from being groomed into gangs by presenting them with real alternatives and a vision of a future filled with opportunity, purpose, and achievement. We have started to deliver this directly into primary schools across Greater London for Year 6 pupils.

The NKBL programme is funded by the City of London Corporation to enable us to pay some of our speakers and to cover expenses but most involved in the programme are volunteers. Judges, Magistrates and Police Forces from across Britain now attend the ‘No Knives’ sessions at the Old Bailey to look at introducing a similar programme in their areas. We don’t have a website or socials, we are quietly doing this to help the maximum number of young people have an opportunity to make a change and choose a better path.

Our float promotes No Knives Better Lives, the Old Bailey’s outreach programme helping young people choose a future beyond knives, gangs and violence. At its heart is the Manchester Bee, created from surrendered guns and knives, symbolising transformation and hope. Young people feature alongside the Bee, sharing a message of opportunity, change and second chances.

2026 marks the Centenary of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners. The first of the modern Livery Companies the Master Mariners were formed after World War 1 when the importance of the Merchant Navy had been central to us surviving as an island nation. At that time the Prince of Wales was central to the creation of the Company and he was our first Master from 1928 to 1936.

This cemented a strong link with the Royal Family. The current Duke of Edinburgh is the current Master and the King is a Past Master and Patron, with the Princess Royal also being a Past Master. The late Queen was our Patron and her Husband a Past Master.

The Company has almost 400 cadets ( trainees working towards their office of the watch certificate) and young officers in our mentoring scheme, supporting and ensuring that there is a next generation of seafarers. We will have a number of our cadets walking with the float.

The war in the Middle East has once again highlighted the importance of the marine trade. Our Senior Warden as the COO of a shipping company whose specialism is energy. His work ensuring the welfare of his crews whilst ensuring the critical flow of energy demonstrates the importance of shipping to the UK

Guildhall School is one of the world's leading conservatoires, situated in the heart of the City of London. To mark the centenary of distinguished alumnus and Beatles producer Sir George Martin, the School's Electronic & Produced Music department and Guildhall Production Studio present a special tribute, performed by players from the professional graduate ensemble, Guildhall Session Orchestra.

The music featured reflects the decades and musical styles spanning Sir George Martin’s career, from the 1940s through to the 1990s. The performance moves through a diverse range of sounds and influences, including a 1940s Navy marching band, 1950s spoken-word comedy, 1960s Guitar bands and Sgt. Pepper, 1970s James Bond, 1980s synth-infused pop, and 1990s song production - including Elton John’s 1997 version of Candle in the Wind - the second-best selling single of all time.

For over 30 years we’ve delivered some of the most complex and challenging construction projects. From iconic structures to cutting-edge research facilities. World-class residential and commercial developments, to airports, to data centres. And more. We bring market-leading insight to every project – big or small – building success on every scale. We were founded on a simple formula of finding a better way.

More than constructing buildings, we build legacies, creating a positive sustainable impact. We believe that great places do more than function – they inspire. It’s why, as a business and as individuals, we see each project as another opportunity for us all to create stories that live beyond what we see today. That transform industries, revitalise communities, restore habitats and make ambitions a reality.

We bring the best teams together. At every level—supply chain, consultants, clients.

Whether as a construction manager, a Tier-1, fitout, or specialist contractor, we are trusted to deliver. Building strong, enduring relationships. This is the key to our success.

We are agile constructors. Giving our clients choice, adaptability and variety. A unique approach that finds the right engineered solution for every design. We are entrepreneurial. Embracing modern methods. Construction to production. Digital and data. Delivering faster, better, greener. Reducing waste. Assuring quality. We make visions work. Never limit them.

We are construction experts. Creating places that do more than just function. Places that inspire the stories lived and told by the people who shape them, make them and use them.

Our float celebrates the enduring friendship between London Freemasons, our Armed Forces and the Royal British Legion. For 22 years, we have proudly supported and served London’s communities, funding Air Ambulance helicopters, colossal 64 meters high, fire ladders, life-saving medical equipment, and millions of teddies and toothbrushes for children’s A&E depts, bringing comfort and hope to children when they need it most.

We are a Modern Livery Company being number 99 of the 114 Livery Companies in the City. We were founded in 1976 as the ‘Company of Builders’ by members of The Faculty of Building (now the Forum for the Built Environment). Meaning that this year is our 50th Anniversary.

The Company of Builders was recognised as a City Livery Company in 1985 and granted Livery as the re-named ‘Worshipful Company of Constructors’ in 1990. A Royal Charter of Incorporation was granted by Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2010 and presented by HRH The Duke of Gloucester at a celebratory banquet held in Merchant Taylors’ Hall.

As with all Livery Companies, we support the aims and objectives of the City of London and the Church, and we aim to support and uphold our industry standards. With a lot of the latter now being done through regulation and by professional bodies, we support the industry by sponsoring Scholarships, Apprenticeships and Awards and we are extremely proud of our achievements in this respect. We recognise excellence and achievements by both individuals and teams at colleges and in higher education. We also support awards for our military affiliations with the Royal Navy (HMS Lancaster – under review as she is decommissioned), the Army (101 Rgt RE Bomb Disposal), the Royal Air Force (5001 Rgt), and offer financial assistance to 14 Cadet Company, Croydon, and the Rickmansworth & Watford Sea Cadets.

Whilst the research scholarships have largely ebbed away as students are required to do more for their employers from an early age, we do support awards at London Southbank University (David Tong Cup) and University of Westminster (Constructors’ Prize). As well as the bi-Annual ‘The Royal Charter Award for Excellence in Construction’ and the Master’s Certificate awards put on by the Construction Liveries Group, of which we are an active member.

Our Almoner, supported by the Company and the Charitable Trust, cares for those in distress, brought to our attention by members and in the general media, where grants of aid and assistance can be made according to need.

The ethos of the Company continues to incorporate the many professions of the construction industry in a single livery. Our membership is gathered from the four main professions of Engineering, Building, Surveying and Architecture together with prominent members from other fields (legal, accountancy etc.) who work in and with the construction industry. The current membership is approaching 400 with revised focus for our 5-Year Plan to achieve 500 members within our 50th anniversary year. This, it is hoped, will help us to elevate our charitable giving, through our Charitable Trust, from a consistent c.£60,000pa to something nearing £100,000pa in future years.

Increased demand for membership and then sustaining it, comes from a determined approach from the Master & Wardens, Court, and Committee members; ensuring value for money is achieved consistently, through engagement with and entertainment for the membership and their guests at our numerous social and informal events, together with the formal functions; The Installation Dinner in October; The Livery & Awards Dinner in February and The Sir Christopher Wren Banquet in June; this year (2026-27) to be held respectively at the Guildhall Crypts, Haberdashers’ Hall and Carpenter’s Hall. We have put on more than 30 informal events in 2026, which see Constructors getting to the parts of London not readily accessible to the public or Tourists.

The Company is a full member of the Construction Liveries Group, along with 24 other Livery Companies, and is currently deputy chaired by Past Master Constructor Terry Ward (2023-24). The CLG is allied with the Livery Craft Skills Council (LCSC) and works closely with The Construction Youth Trust and City & Guilds. The Group has developed the Masters’ Certificates Scheme, introduced in 2001 through a partnership of City & Guilds, Livery Companies and Professional Bodies to recognise individuals’ efforts in their field and in relation to their respective Companies.

In response to the City of London’s desire to address the Climate Emergency, the Constructors formed a well-supported Climate Action Committee, and a number of those Company participants represent us on the Livery Climate Action Group, developing plans to address the issues from a City of London perspective. Practicing what we preach, this work has led to the Constructors’ becoming the first Livery company to achieve ‘Net Zero’ carbon status in 2023. An achievement that we are hugely proud of, and we are now helping other interested Liveries to achieve likewise.

Our new Master is Henry Lamb, Managing Director of Lamb & Partners Ltd, a small Built Environment Consultancy based in St Albans, offering Project Management, Building Surveying and Building Pathology Services, along with other necessary design functions required by clients as a hired in service through a network of partners we have worked with for many years and therefore place great trust in.

The constructors have been a constant in the Lord Mayor’s Show, certainly since achieving Livery Status in 1990, usually walking with the other Modern Livery Companies but we have had a regular float since 2023.

City St George’s, University of London is the University of business, practice and the professions. One of London’s largest higher education destinations, we have campuses in Clerkenwell, Tooting and Moorgate.
Students and staff join the parade to pay tribute to our Rector, the Lord Mayor of London

Zhejiang UK Association (ZJUKA) was founded in 2009 to strengthen UK–China ties, particularly serving the Zhejiang-origin community in the UK. This year marks our Eighth time taking part in the Lord Mayor’s Show — a tradition we’re proud to continue as part of the City’s vibrant community.

Theme:
CONNECTING ZHEJIANG WITH THE WORLD
Harmony in Diversity, Innovation Beyond Borders

Overview:
The Lord Mayor’s Show is one of London’s oldest and most cherished civic traditions – a day when the City opens its streets to the world. This year’s procession celebrates the themes that define the City of London’s enduring strength: global connectivity, financial resilience, and innovation.
The Zhejiang UK Association, in partnership with the China National Tourist Office London and supported by BYD, is proud to contribute to this vibrant tapestry. Our 54-person procession reflects the City’s international character – a dynamic blend of cultures, generations, and ideas, moving together in celebration of shared prosperity and common purpose.

The Procession (in order):
Banner & Lotus-Costume Leaders
Two performers in pink lotus costumes carry a red banner with name of the float organiser ZJUKA. The lotus, a symbol of grace and purity, adds a touch of Chinese cultural heritage to London’s diverse streetscape. This section speaks to global connectivity – a reminder that the City’s strength has always been built on its openness to the world and the many traditions its communities bring.
Pandas & Humanoid Robots
Four playful panda mascots walk alongside four Humanoid robots, creating a delightful contrast between cultural warmth and technological progress. This section embodies innovation – showcasing how London, like the global financial centre it hosts, embraces new ideas and technologies from every corner of the globe.
Ethnic Minority Dance Group
40 dancers in vibrant traditional costumes perform rhythmic folk dances, bringing colour and energy to the parade. Their presence celebrates the richness of multiculturalism – a value that lies at the heart of the City of London’s financial resilience. Diversity is not just a social asset; it is an economic one. It is the talent, creativity, and perspectives of people from all backgrounds that make London’s financial and professional services sector one of the most dynamic and adaptable in the world.

“Nihao! China” Double-Decker Bus – Powered by BYD
The grand finale features a zero-emission red BYD double-decker bus, wrapped in a vibrant design celebrating China’s rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes. The slogans “Travel China, Find Your Wonder 行走中国,遇见美好” and “Travel to Connect, Culture to Inspire 以旅会友,以文化心” invite audiences to explore China and celebrate the friendships and shared experiences that travel and culture inspire. With visa-free entry for British citizens for visits of up to 30 days, available until 31 December 2026, now is a wonderful opportunity to visit China and discover its wonders.
With over 2,700 BYD electric buses already operating across the UK – one in every two zero-emission buses on British roads – this section highlights how global connectivity and innovation work hand in hand to build a more sustainable future. It is a powerful symbol of how international collaboration can drive real progress in our shared urban environment, contributing to the City’s long-term resilience.
Total Procession: 54 participants + 1 double-decker bus, contributing to the colour, diversity, and energy that make the Lord Mayor’s Show a true celebration of London’s global identity.

Participating for a third consecutive year, Azad Ayub's float celebrates his global and local charitable partnerships, his valued bond with the City livery companies, and his dedicated team. It reflects Azad's unwavering focus on social responsibility, showing how local businesses can lead with genuine purpose and lasting community impact.

The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists is the City of London’s 100th Livery Company, bringing together technology professionals to advance industry, education, fellowship and charity. Through mentoring, digital inclusion, AI for good and thought leadership, WCIT champions technology in service of society and helps members “Pay IT Forward” for others.
This year the WCIT is excited to present its float for the Lord Mayor’s Show, marking a landmark double celebration: 40 years of the Company’s existence and four decades of transformative change in Information Technology.
At the heart of the entry is a striking digital signage van featuring a high-definition video display presenting “40 Years of IT”, an engaging visual journey through the technologies that have shaped our world since the mid-1980s. From the earliest personal computers and dial-up modems to the smartphone era, cloud computing, and the rise of artificial intelligence, it brings to life the extraordinary pace of digital innovation and the central role that IT professionals have played. The WCIT has long championed technology in service of society, and the Lord Mayor’s Show provides the perfect stage on which to honour that remarkable legacy.
Adding a touch of fun to the spectacle is their unique attraction: a remote-controlled animatronic mouse, affectionately known as the Clicky Mouse, positioned at the front of the van. A playful nod to the humble computer mouse, this larger-than-life character will delight spectators young and old as it navigates the historic streets of the City.
Flanking the van are Company members and supporters walking proudly in procession, representing the breadth and diversity of the WCIT community, from technologists and educators to charity supporters and livery enthusiasts. They are led by this years WCIT Master, Paul Finch.
Together, the entry captures the WCIT’s spirit: serious about technology, passionate about people, and never too proud to have a little fun along the way.
